Newnes Touring Caravan Park
Ellesmere, Shropshire
No.2 Old Newnes Cottage,
Shropshire. SY12 9HH
 Website NewnesTouring Caravan Park
Wednesday 19th Sept.to Wednesday 26th Sept.
(Bookings by 19th August)
A warm welcome will await you at this picturesque and secluded site, a mile or so from the heart of the market town of Ellesmere, in the area known as Shropshire’s Lake District. The site dates back to medieval times and is linked to Ellesmere and the surrounding beautiful countryside by an extensive network of footpaths, with the Shropshire Union Canal only half a mile away.
Situated on a rise, this extremely well-kept site with award-winning toilet blocks, has views towards Worlds End, the Welsh Mountains and the local countryside. A nearby pond is home to rare Gold Crested Newts. Each pitch has its own water and electric supply, with firm ground and grass kept very short. The owner even mows the grass verge along the main road to ease your walk into town or to the canal.
Places to visit include the 9 nearby meres, Hawkstone Follies and Chirk Castle, to name a few. A regular bus goes past the site and travels between Shrewsbury and Oswestry, both places well worth a visit. For provisions Tesco is a flat 1 mile walk away, or use the bus!

highlight of this rally is a narrow-boat journey, on the Sunday, along the Llangollen Canal. We’ll go by coach to Trevor Basin, to board the NB Eirlys under the control of Jones the Boats who’ll take us across the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site. From here we continue across the Chirk Aqueduct and on through the 460 yard Chirk Tunnel before turning (winding in boat-speak) for the return journey. During our journey a two-course hot meal will be served and drinks are available at any time. Unfortunately our dogs won’t be allowed to come with us but we have a volunteer dog-sitter if required. Anyone with an interest in narrow-boats will know that this trip is the “cream” of British waterways journeys. If you haven’t done it before prepare to be amazed!
The cost of this trip will be in the region of £30 each (all-in) – not a lot for a good day out!
Other rally activities will be arranged, such as a guided walk, a social evening and a farewell dinner.
Fee: £17 p.n.
We are strictly limited to 20 pitches and applications must be in by 19th August, when we have to pay a deposit of £20 per pitch.
